Founding Team Members

Pam Hartwell-Herrero - Executive Director, Sustainable Fairfax
Pam has been the Executive Director of Sustainable Fairfax since 2004. She is a strong advocate for Marin Clean Energy, Zero Waste initiatives and Localization. In November of 2009 she was elected to the Fairfax Town Council. Pam serves as leader of the Fairfax Youth Commission, is a Sustainable Marin Board Member, and is an Advisory member of the Marin Economic Forum. Ms. Hartwell?Herrero was President of the Marin Master Gardeners for several years and was awarded Lifetime certification. She has a B.A. in Communications and an M.A. in Theological Studies from the SF Theological Seminary.


Polla Pratt - Local Economic Development

Polla is a Whole Systems Designer with over a decade of economic development experience. Her specialty is creating accelerated whole systems change and innovating development process methodologies. She has consulted on country, state and community level economic development projects in the United States, Latin America and South Africa. She has contributed to the development of over 100 new public private economic development initiatives with a focus over last 5 years on economic localization. Polla has a BA in Business Administration, a Masters in Whole Systems Design and is a Certified Permaculture Designer and Registered Somatic Therapist.

David Bernard - Business Information Systems
David recently left corporate life and his position of Vice President in systems technology at Charles Schwab Inc. where was in charge of Schwab's retail trading and brokerage accounting systems. David's career in Information Systems Management spanned thirty years across a variety of industries including retail, manufacturing, Internet service, banking, and financial services. David serves on the Steering Committee of the San Geronimo Valley Planning Group. And is enrolled in Dominican College Sustainable Practice course and the Master Class in Sustainability with the Environmental Forum of Marin focusing on the creation of sustainable local economic models. David is active in a number of other areas of interest including an organic vineyard and sustainable agriculture.

Karin Conn PR and Marketing

Karin Conn is a public relations specialist revered for her high-energy, goal-oriented, relation-building style of media outreach. She has been working one-on-one with her clients for the past three years and prior to that she was a partner in a small PR company. Her clients range from consumer products, services, events, non-profits, restaurants, and technology. She handles all aspects of public relations including one-time projects, special events, company launches, branding, news announcements, plus development and implementation of long-term strategic campaigns. In addition to her career in PR, for nearly 20 years Karin has been an event producer in the Bay Area.
